Why name a kids' brand after a bird that can't fly?
The kakapo is the world's heaviest parrot, and the only one that can't fly — it evolved on islands with no predators, so it never needed to rush. It's also famously friendly, a little clumsy, and covered in some of the softest feathers in nature.
That's the mood we wanted for children's clothes: nothing hurried, nothing hard-edged. Every piece is cut from pure cotton and finished by hand in small batches, so a two-year-old can crawl, spill, and grow into it without the fabric fighting back.
